1) INTELLIGENTSIA BLACK CAT ESPRESSO ICE CREAM

World-renowned coffee sourcer and roaster Intelligentsia, based in Chicago, supplies the Direct Trade beans we use to make a new ice cream that’s available beginning today. We couldn’t be happier with the flavor of our new collaboration ice cream. Have a scoop in our Ohio and Chicago shops, ship a pint, or look for the Black Cat Espresso sticker on pints in select grocery stores:

2) EDWARD LEE & THE MIND OF A CHEF

The third season of Anthony Bourdain’s superb PBS show, The Mind of a Chef, kicks off Saturday Sept. 6 with James Beard Award winner Edward Lee (Smoke & Pickles).

“What Edward Lee has to say with his delicious food and in the episodes of The Mind of A Chef,” Bourdain tells Food Republic, “will help redefine American food as a whole.”

We’ll be watching.

3) DANGERDUST

Two Columbus College of Art & Design students plus time to create plus lots of chalk and skill equals stunning portraits, landscapes, and typographical imagery. For the back story, check out this Huff Po feature on the duo known as Dangerdust.

Chalk work by Dangerdust, quote by John Muir:

4) ALISON MARTINO

If you’re into the history and evolution of cities, it doesn’t matter if you live anywhere near L.A. to appreciate the eye, tone, and approach of Los Angeles Magazine columnist and Vintage Los Angeles Facebooker/Instagrammer Alison Martino.

5) DANCING NIGEL EWAN

Nigel, our most recent addition to the Jeni’s Art + Design Team, plays accordion, is a tea connoisseur, studies music charts during lunch, documents his colorful life, sports 1930s wire rim glasses, and makes his own shirts, socks, sweaters, bow ties, and trousers. He is a young man in an Old World gent’s body. But he also has a keen sense of humor and will, on occasion, deign to wallow in the vulgar muck of heartland rock. We can’t get enough of Nigel twisting to Kid Rock’s Born Free.
