Easton Scoop Shop Opening Night

Memorial Day weekend weather promises to be beautiful to enjoy some ice cream at our new Easton shop. The place looks great, flows beautifully, features our full menu, and is outfitted with a sweet bar that looks out on to what we call “Jeni’s Plaza” in front the AMC Theater.

If you were one of the hardy souls there last night for the opening, we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.

We’ve opened a few shops now since 2002, but this was the first time we’ve seen a line of more than 250 standing in a sideways drizzle to check out the new digs, grab a scoop, and meet Jeni.

The first 50 people in line received a limited-edition Jeni’s T-shirt by Homage, our good friends and new Easton neighbors. Jessica Jones and Cheryl Taylor were numbers one and two in line. Jessica started the line at 1:30 p.m., with Cheryl arriving just a bit after her.

Check ’em out waiting patiently at the front of the line (at the front door) prior to the wind and rain and temperature shift:

Jessica, a longtime Jeni’s fan, was excited to see the shop but minced no words: “I came for the shirt!”

Cheryl came for the swag, too, but as a recent Jeni’s convert she said she really wanted to see the new place.

“I’ve only been in a shop one other time, the one in Bexley,” she said.

“I thought I’d go in and get one a regular flavor, you know, chocolate, vanilla. But I said, ‘Whoa, this place is different.’ Then my friends started telling me about it, the history of it, the ingredients, the way it’s made. I just thought it was really cool.”

Following Cheryl and Jessica, other customers braved the crazy temperature drop and November-like precipitation to sample, pick up a scoop or a cone or to create a sundae with the new sauces and Gravels.

Thanks again to everyone who joined us last night.
