Eat ice cream for breakfast, help inspire female leaders

You don’t really need an excuse to eat ice cream before noon. Who needs cream and sugar when you can put Ndali Estate Vanilla in your coffee? Why put peanut butter on toast when you could have a scoop of Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks on a waffle cone? And you know that big bowl of oatmeal would be so much better with a heaping scoop of Brambleberry Crisp in it. You get it. We get it. Ice cream is basically a breakfast food.

But what if we told you that you can indulge in your favorite morning treat AND do something good at the same time? That’s precisely what we are doing for Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (yes, it is a real, decades-old holiday dreamt up by a pretty smart mom) on Saturday, Feb. 3. We’re raising money for She Should Run, a nonprofit working to get 250,000 women running for elected office by 2030. Half of sales made in shops from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 3 will go to She Should Run. And 50% of sales from our online Ice Cream for Breakfast collections will do the same (scroll down for more details).

We’re supporting She Should Run this year because we believe the work they do is bigger than politics. As more women are elected into office they become role models to young girls and women. They show what’s doable by example. Meaning the next generation of women can actually envision the possibilities of leadership, not just dream about it. Which is a pretty amazing thing.

She Should Run operates as a non-partisan resource and starting place for women considering a run for office. Their mission is to expand the talent pool of women running. To give equal opportunity to women of all political leanings, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Their research has shown that when women run for office, they win at the same rates as men. But women are not recruited at the same rate as men. Through programs, workshops, and mentorship, She Should Run has inspired more than 15,000 women to run since the 2016 election.

Starting now, there are multiple ways you can support She Should Run through Ice Cream for Breakfast Day:

Order an Ice Cream for Breakfast collection—a 6-pint and 9-pint roundup of our favorite ice creams to enjoy before noon.  Half of the money you spend will go directly to She Should Run (that’s $34 from every 6-pint collection and $49 from every 9-pint collection). Both offerings are available now through Feb. 3. So why not host a brunch and celebrate in your PJs? Or send a collection to your sister in Sioux Falls, your grandmother in Grand Rapids, or your best friend in Birmingham. Pro tips: Add a scoop of Coffee with Cream & Sugar to your coffee. Top waffles with Churro. Or let your pints of Wildberry Lavender and Ndali Estate Vanilla melt and use them to make Jeni’s french toast.

You can also join us at scoop shop on Saturday, Feb. 3. All of our shops will open at 9 a.m. and donate 50% of sales made until noon to She Should Run. Pro tip: Try new Rainbow Buttermilk Frozen Yogurt, which drops in shops on Feb. 1, on waffle cone. It’s a bright and tart combo of raspberry, key lime, and passion fruit yogurts—the perfect flavor to wake up your palate.
