It’s been a busy year for us in the Golden State. We take a quick look back on our first year with a West Coast shop.

Weeks before our March opening, our ice cream truck roamed around LA, giving the West Coast a teaser taste of our forthcoming scoop shop. We’ve been rolling around ever since—stopping at events including LA Weekly’s Tacolandia, LA Wine Fest, and Burgers & Beer.

We also debuted our mini trailer. It’s like the fun size version of our ice cream truck.

Outside the shop, our ambassadors took the time to give back to the community. We spent a day cleaning up the Los Angeles River with the LA Conservation Corps. And we volunteered at L.A. Kitchen—an organization that reclaims healthy, local food that would otherwise be discarded, and trains unemployed men and women. We spent the day helping their culinary job training program.

Opening night at Los Feliz was a nonstop party. JBB was on hand to celebrate with the hundreds who came through our doors for free scoops and Jeni’s swag.

The line wrapped around the block nearly all night—meaning we were happily scooping until almost midnight.

What’s a party without a little bubbly? Scoops of Los Feliz-exclusive flavor Wheatgrass, Pear, & Vinho Verde Sorbet were served in Champagne coupes and topped with sparkling wine.

Every Jeni’s scoop shop is designed to fit its surrounding neighborhood. In Los Feliz, we wanted to capture the bright vibrancy of the neighborhood with lots of natural light and a splash of LA style with killer Granada tile flooring.

We couldn’t resist putting our name in lights. Los Feliz is the first shop where anchored our chalkboard menu with a neon Jeni’s logo.
