My Holiday Gift Guide

I like a gift guide that keeps on giving. So, what’s the definition of that? A guide that includes only things I’d want to call my own. If I wouldn’t wear it, eat it, use it, or make something with it, I wouldn’t give it. From lip balm to lighting, from spice blends to knitting needles, this little guide has you covered.

Otis James

Of course, an Otis James necktie  would be a great gift for anyone in your life, including the ladies, but Nashville’s own is also making a great lady tie these days. Like the Otis James Man Tie, the Lady Tie gives any outfit a dash of “What is that?” — which everyone knows is the key to personal style. I love these ties, and a lot of us wear them many ways.

Brass desk lamp from CB2

We have many of these CB2 lamps in other colors in our offices and they are long-lasting and adorable with their gnome hat-like tops. Brass is a brand-new finish from CB2! I just moved into a 1970’s home that has a lot of white walls (now) and an ornate brass plate on almost every one of them. I have grown to love brass in the last few months, and it is beginning to make appearances in our shops and offices. This lamp is perfect for anyone who wants an extra dose of glam in their office—home or work. Please note: this CB2 lamp can be ordered online, but it must be picked up in person at a CB2 store. West Elm is also selling a great brass lamp, and it can be shipped right to your door.

Hedley + Bennet Apron

There’s a reason chefs are sporting U.S.-made Hedley + Bennet Aprons in kitchens coast to coast. They rule. Long-wearing and body contouring, they can take a licking in the kitchen or workbench and endure a million washes and somehow just look better. Bonus: they magically don’t get tangled in my dryer either. And they come in brill’ colors. We have also considered the gentleman apron: remove blazer in the office, put on apron. The pockets are ready-made for notebooks, iPhone 6+’s, pens and pencils, and all the office accoutrements. Only a Hedley + Bennet has the class to pull that off.

La Boite

It’s no secret: We love NYC’s La Boîte. For any cook in your life, go in for any blend or gift set. We love their Bloody Mary kits. Lior Lev Sercarz knows how to bring out the best in spices and food. That’s why we and so many chefs choose to work with him. For a foodie gift, try La Boîte.

Limited-Edition Death & Co Collection by Stewart & Claire

I am never without my BARE lip balm by Stewart & Claire. No joke. It is the world’s most perfect lip balm. It makes your lips sheeny, not shiny, and has absolutely neutral scent. For special occasions S & C offers other scents made specifically to pair with food (or ice cream). No more synthetic cherry or peppermint interfering with that rosé. This Death & Co set will sell out quickly, so jump on it now. My favorite is Smoky—it’s divine.

Brittany Knitting Needles

Full disclosure: the founders of Brittany also happen to be my second cousins once removed. My grandmother and grandfather are their grandmother and grandfather’s sister and brother. Yes, two dashing brothers married two gorgeous sisters. But I don’t love these knitting needles because my relatives make them. They’re carved with sand somehow. It’s a process that makes these unique needles incredibly smooth and delicately detailed. Every knitter goes gaga over these things.

Cat Beret

My opinion is that it’s too good for a cat. When the cat refuses to don it (as it will), it becomes human fascinator (mini) beret (hot glue gun + hair clip). Get it for the fashionista in your world (who has a cat). I would.
