We know how to step aside when the pastry chef approaches. We know that, in many ways, ice cream will always be the wingman to a great dessert. And that’s just fine with us. Our ice creams are free of anything fake and made to melt like buttercream into whatever treat you decide to scoop it on. Why does all of this matter? Because when you make ice cream designed to be the never-fail sidekick, you want to pair them with some of the world’s most incredible pastries.
Pastries like the hands-down amazing ones at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in LA. Open less than 2 months in LA, Mr. Holmes has already become a local bakery staple with its signature Cruffin (translation: a croissant baked like a muffin and filled with rotating flavors of pastry cream), and other smile-inducing baked goods with clever twists. It’s no surprise people are lining up out their door in LA—customers follow the same pattern at Mr. Holmes’s San Francisco and Seoul, Korea, outposts, too.
We are beyond excited to team up with the Highland Park bakery (111 S Ave 59) for a pastry and ice cream pairing pop-up for the last Saturday in a month-long series—this Saturday, Dec 3. The Jeni’s truck will be parked outside, and we’ll be scooping new flavors and recommending the perfect ice creams to pair with Mr. Holmes’s rotating offerings. Stay and enjoy your ice cream and baked good together, or grab a pint and pastry to go.
