Hey, Chicago, what do you say? Just in time for baseball season, our fifth Chicago shop is now open in the heart of Wrigleyville. And it is a beaut. At just over 2,000-square-feet, it’s one of our largest shops to date. The shop has all the traditional Jeni’s trimmings, including hexagonal flooring and oak accents that pay homage to our very first shop designs.
But, like all our scoop shops, our Art+Design team looks for clever ways to nod to the surrounding neighborhood—and our Wrigleyville shop is no different. Behind the counter, our menu chalkboards are a grassy Wrigley Field green.
In addition to some killer oak banquettes, we added custom bleacher seating—the perfect spot to linger over a cone and admire our gallery wall (framed by the folks at Simply Framed). Note the red and blue “company is community” canvas print, another subtle hint to the Cubs.
This particular shop has been years in the making, and holds a special place in Jeni’s heart because she grew up a Cubs fan. A fact she’s made VERY clear at Jeni’s HQ (much to the begrudging of the several Cleveland Indians fans who sit outside her office). We have a feeling our friend @joelovesicecream was well aware of Jeni’s allegiance because he showed up hours early to the grand opening to gift Jeni a personalized Cubs jersey.
We swung open the doors last Thursday for our grand opening—and, as always, you showed up … even in freezing temps! Thanks for the love, Chicago. Trust us, the feeling is mutual. We can’t wait to be a part of your game day ritual this summer. Oh, and if you’re in the neighborhood, you have to try our ballpark-inspired flavor, Popcorn! Peanuts! It tastes a lot like inside-out caramel corn.
Also, don’t our ambassadors look great in the new Jeni’s T-shirts? They’re made in collaboration with LA streetwear company, Jennifer USA, and will be rolling out in our shops nationwide in next few months. More on the collab coming very, very soon!
