Roasted Strawberry Buttermilk Ice Cream: Worth the Wait

A note on Roasted Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream:

We typically bring the spectacular summer flavor back to and our scoop shops in late May or early June.

This year, cool weather has delayed the ripening of the berries grown for us by Don Henry, just outside of Nashville, and Hirsch Fruit Farm, near Chillicothe, Ohio.

We’ve now begun to receive shipments of berries from both sources. Check out those ruby jewels (above), picked with care by Hirsch’s crew of 10 Chillicothe-area teenagers. We’re cleaning, capping, and roasting them now in the kitchen.
