A few years ago, Jeni was waiting to board a plane and reading a newspaper article about Zelda Fitzgerald, the original “flapper” and the wife of The Great Gatsby writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Enthralled, Jeni dove into Zelda, the enthralling biography by Nancy Milford, and learned along the way that Zelda, a Montgomery, Ala., native, loved biscuits with peach jam more than any other food.
Our new summer ice cream Sweet Cream Biscuits & Peach Jam is our tribute to Zelda and to all things southern comfort. Featuring a buttermilk and grass-grazed Ohio milk ice cream, it stars from-scratch Sweet Cream Biscuits and our house-made Georgia peach jam throughout.
The incredible peaches we use to make the jam are supplied by the Peach Truck. Based in Nashville, the Peach Truck’s Stephen K. and Jessica Rose distribute the most perfect peaches in America after their team picks them in a 130-year-old family orchard in Georgia.
As for the Sweet Cream Biscuits, they’re featured in Jeni’s new book, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream Desserts, and are easy to make in your own kitchen.
