Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is looking for an experienced Construction Leader to oversee all aspects of scoop shop construction management, ensuring completion on time and on budget.

This person will:

  • Oversee contractor and vendor selection, negotiation, and performance management

  • Lead continuous improvement and sustainable design efforts across sites, including retrofits and new builds

COST ACCOUNTANT - COLUMBUS

The Jeni’s Cost Accountant is responsible for the accurate statement of the company’s product cost, gross margin and inventory in the company’s monthly financial statements.

This mathlete ensures that all of the transactions impacting inventory and cost of sales are accurate through daily tracking and analysis of the activities in our production, fulfillment and sourcing departments. When appropriate, the Cost Accountant investigates and corrects errors in the daily transactions for these departments.

The ideal candidate will also have an intuitive understanding of when to step in and make improvements to our current systems and when to support and train staff on functions related to inventory and cost of sales.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate costing of all products, including materials costs and calculations of labor & overhead rates
  • Ensures month end financial reporting of inventory and cost of goods sold is accurate
  • Organizes and supervises annual physical inventory counts as well as periodic cycle counts
  • Provides analysis and understanding of variances in the standard costing accounts. For example, purchase price variance, waste and capitalized labor
  • Participates in various projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed
  • Develops and maintains Operational Scorecards
  • Prepares product cost information for new and existing products for pricing review

MASTER SCHEDULER - COLUMBUS

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is looking for a Master Scheduler to join our team and be responsible for creating schedules for our production facility and bakery, while maintaining constant c­ommunication with the Jeni’s sourcing team and our co-manufacturers. They will also allocate and schedule the movement of our dry goods. This person is an expert organizer, a problem solver, an adept balancer, all while keeping customer service the main priority.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is searching for an energetic, positive, macaron-loving manager for the Jeni’s Bakery, located in Grandview Ohio.  We need someone who can inspire and motivate a strong team of bakers making Jeni’s special recipes of cookies, macarons, and baked goods for our ice creams.

The Bakery Manager reports directly to the Production Manager and will be the building leader of the bakery.  The Bakery Manager works closely with the shift leads and teams to achieve daily production goals – ensuring we’re an industry leader in employee safety and food safety.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Understanding all products and recipes in the bakery, including how both unfinished and finished products should look and taste, how long tasks should take and the quality standards associated with each recipe
  • Leading by example in the kitchen to help the team maintain a caring, respectful culture, an efficient workflow, and a healthy sense of urgency
  • Leading staff in completion of the daily production schedule—assigning tasks, helping establish efficient work flow, being eager and happy to answer questions and solve problems

PREP & BAKERY TEAM MEMBERS - COLUMBUS

Jeni’s is seeking team members to start immediately in our production kitchen and bakery. The hours for first shift are Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., the hours for second shift are Monday – Friday 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. The starting pay for this position is $9.50/hour. Once 90 days is completed, qualified team members will be eligible for medical benefits as low as $20 a month as well as an increase to $10.00.

Prep and Bakery Team Members will be familiar with what distinguishes Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams from other ice creams; able to provide consistent, world-class work with every single batch; exhibit passion for teamwork, an eye for detail, a willingness to clean, stamina, and the ability to work in an exciting, fast-paced, and cold environment.

Prep and bakery employees will be expected to carry out the day to day production duties such as cooking sauce, burning sugar, stirring kettles and fluffing crisp. Team members will be expected to do work inside the freezers and coolers at the kitchen and bakery. Team members are also expected to stand for 6-8 hours at a time and lift up to 50 lbs.

QUALITY ASSURANCE LAB TECHNICIAN - COLUMBUS

The Quality Assurance Lab Technician will be responsible for monitoring quality and food safety parameters and practices in a food production plant environment.  Work will include execution of standardized analytical, microbiological, and sensory evaluation tests to determine product conformance to standards.

QA Lab Technician Job Duties:

  • Conduct standardized analytical tests (pH, water activity, and others as assigned) on food products and compare results to product specifications and regulatory requirements to determine if product is fully compliant
  • Perform Sensory Evaluation on samples of finished product to assure that the flavor profile and product texture conform to written standards
  • Prepares a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every item that is produced in our manufacturing facility, based on the analytical and sensory evaluations
  • Notifies Production Leadership and the Food Safety Director if a product is found to be non-compliant
  • Completes a Corrective Action report to document how the non-compliant product was reworked (into a state of compliance) or discarded if no rework options are available
  • Conducts fully documented, daily Good Manufacturing Practice and Food Safety audits of the production facility and provides them to the Production Manager and Food Safety Manager
  • Working in conjunction with the Production Team is responsible for assuring that all production batches and lots are sampled
  • Prepares microbiological samples for the third party testing laboratory using proper aseptic technique
  • Records and compiles test results or prepares graphs, charts or reports as directed by the Food Safety Manager
  • Cleans and sterilizes lab equipment
  • Conducts ATP and microbiological swabbing as required by the Food Safety Manager and our Environmental monitoring program
  • Takes samples of air, product for microbiological analysis using proper aseptic technique.  Capable of preparing dilutions for plating on Petrifilm plates.  Accurately reads plates and reports counts based on dilution rates

QA Lab Technician Qualifications:

  • Incumbent should have a minimum of an Associates degree in Food Science, Microbiology,or a related discipline.  A Bachelor’s degree would be preferred
  • Working knowledge of food chemistry and food microbiology
  • Minimum of one year of laboratory experience in a commercial or academic setting.  Previous experience in a food production facility is strongly preferred
  • A working knowledge of cGMPs and HACCP is strongly preferred

At Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, our mission is making better ice creams and bringing people together. As part of the Los Angeles Fulfillment department, you will be based out of the dry warehouse located in South El Monte, pick up ice cream from local cold storages and deliver ice cream and dry goods to our local shop and wholesale customers. Start time and hours will vary; however, this position is a perfect fit for a morning person as most shifts begin at 5:30 – 6am.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a valid driver’s license with no felony charges and no more than two moving violations in the last two years. We’re looking for someone who will hustle, scrap, focus, and compete to support Jeni’s growth and expansion.
