We believe it takes a community to create exceptional ice cream. And since our goal is to make the finest ice creams the world has ever known, that means working with the right partners. We call this the Fellowship Model.

The Fellowship Model is about combining the values of the good food world — community, quality, craftsmanship, collaboration — with the tools and values of the 21st century — safety, connectivity, civility, creativity. It means building ice creams using high-quality products sourced directly from a trusted network of growers, producers, makers, and suppliers. All bound by the same drive: to be better tomorrow than we were today.

Our Commitment to Responsible Sourcing

The Fellowship Model stems from our goal to build a continuously improving supply chain that not only drives high standards of quality, but also contributes to a more sustainable and equitable world.

We achieve this goal by partnering with people who provide the best products and services we can find, and who are socially responsible, environmentally adept, and conscious of human rights.

Practicing responsible sourcing allows us to:

● Understand and minimize our carbon footprint

● Support strong recycling practices and reduce landfilled materials

● Partner with suppliers of environmentally friendly products

● Partner with suppliers who have third-party certifications guaranteeing fair trade practices and human rights best practices

● Prioritize working with independently owned suppliers who are smaller, family-owned, women-owned, or minority-owned

● Support local businesses and carbon footprint initiatives by working with suppliers located as close as possible to our production partners

● Prioritize partnerships with suppliers who have their own Supplier Code of Conduct or who agree to ours

Measuring Our Progress

To ensure we’re meeting our responsible sourcing goals, we conduct regular (at least annual) reviews of our supply chain. These reviews are based on guidelines related to our B Corp* status and recertification requirements, and consider business needs, pricing, availability, community and environmental initiatives, and continuous improvement.

*What’s a B Corp?It means we’re endorsed by the international nonprofit B Lab as a company that meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. That we’re an evolving company, pushing forward to be better tomorrow than we are today.

Common topics for our supply chain reviews include:

Waste Reduction:We encourage our partners to engage in waste reduction best practices and, where possible, to share those practices with other suppliers.

Packaging Reduction:We consider our partners’ ongoing efforts to reduce or eliminate packaging to benefit the environment and reduce costs.

Sustainable Shipping:We consider our partners’ efforts to reuse pallets and other shipping materials, including participation in “share and reuse” programs like CHEPS.

Leadership Attributes:We consider whether our partners’ businesses are owned or led by underrepresented groups.

TraceGains:We review our own investment in TraceGains, our online platform for managing supplier documents related to quality, food safety, sustainability, and other critical practices.

What It Takes to be a Jeni’s Partner

All partners within the Jeni’s ecosystem — from growers and makers to suppliers and consulting agencies — share in our values, high standards of quality, and commitment to a better world. To be part of our Fellowship Model, we ask that partners align with the following standards:

Ethical Sourcing
We prioritize respect for human rights, safe working conditions, and fair labor practices across our supply chain.

Environmental Sustainability
We work to minimize our environmental impact through sustainable practices like partnering with local suppliers (which minimizes transportation and supports local communities), prioritizing renewable resources, reducing waste, and conserving energy.

Collaboration & Best Practice Sharing
We choose suppliers who embrace and promote shared sustainability goals and best practices together, as well as with their own suppliers, stakeholders, industry experts, and peers.

Social ResponsibilityWe prioritize fair wages, equitable treatment, and access to fair procedures and remedies for workers.

Transparency & Traceability
We work to track the origin and route of our products to ensure ethical and sustainable practices throughout our supply chain.

Due Diligence
We regularly conduct assessments of existing and potential suppliers to identify and mitigate risks related to labor rights, environmental impact, and other ethical considerations.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance
We follow all relevant laws and regulations, including those related to international trade, human rights, and environmental protection.

Continuous Improvement
In order to be better tomorrow than we were today, we regularly evaluate and refine our sourcing practices to address emerging risks and improve sustainability performance.
