Sunshine is an ice cream designed to get people talking. Inspired by Depressed Cake Shop, it’s a flavor that looks as muted gray as a rain cloud, but tastes like a ray of sunshine. A fun play on the mind and a pleasant reminder that things aren’t always what they seem. Sunshine is meant to raise awareness of—and spark conversations about—children’s mental health and support the work of On Our Sleeves.

Available online and in shops, while supplies last.

Starting the conversation

Creating a routine of having “check-in” conversations with kids makes them more likely to tell you when they need support. We’re hoping these questions from the Behavioral Health experts at On Our Sleeves can be an easy way to get started. Conversation cards are also available in our scoop shops nationwide.

Keep the convo going

On Our Sleeves

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to support On Our Sleeves—the movement to break stigmas around children’s mental health and provide free educational resources to families. Through sales of Sunshine, we’ll be able to donate $25,000 to help On Our Sleeves distribute Kindness Kits to 30,000 kids across the country. Each kit includes curriculum for the educator and hands-on activities for children to learn about and practice kindness together.

Depressed Cake Shop

Sunshine was originally inspired by the Depressed Cake Shop, a global community of bakers, makers, and activists dedicated to destigmatizing the conversation around mental health. Depressed Cake Shop hosts baked-goods pop-ups to create conversations about mental health and raise money for related charities.
